PROCESS

The Idea

Generating ideas can be a spontaneous journey, taking anywhere from months to an instant. The best ones often come out of the blue or when least expected. I like to jot down my ideas and let them grow over time.

Interestingly, I never have the entire painting in my head initially. It feels like the painting unfolds itself as I work, almost like it paints itself along the way. This approach adds a sense of spontaneity, letting the beauty emerge organically in the creative process.

the Sketch

This is where the ideas come to life, where I translate them onto the canvas. Sometimes, the initial sketch may evolve as I start painting different parts of it.

I prefer using charcoal for my sketches; its darkness allows for easy adjustments, and it seamlessly blends with the paint. This adaptability ensures that the creative process remains fluid and open to spontaneous changes.

The Painting part

The painting phase breathes life into the sketch, infusing it with its emotional essence. It's at this stage that I meticulously decide on the color palette, shaping the overall feel of the artwork.

This step typically requires a substantial investment of time, often exceeding 30 hours. The process involves a careful interplay of colors, adding layers of depth and emotion to bring the piece to its fullest expression

Varnish

The varnish is the final touch, adding a protective layer and enhancing all the colors and intricate details. Beyond safeguarding the artwork, it serves to accentuate the vibrancy and depth, bringing out the full spectrum of hues and capturing every nuanced detail. This crucial step completes the journey, ensuring the longevity and visual richness of the finished piece.
